It's crazy to buy a boat without trying it out but that's what some dealers expect. I find out what a client is currently paddling and what changes they want to make. Then we meet to try out 2 or 3 boats from more to less stable. You need to paddle a boat at least 30 minutes to know if it fits, then in different conditions to ensure the boat isn't too much to handle in waves or chop.
I'm minutes from two ramps adjacent lake Monroe and the St Johns river but I much prefer Parrish park in Titusville for demos.
It affords a nice protected sand beach to launch from and with north or south wind some light downwinding can be had on the intracoastal.
