It's crazy to buy a boat without trying it out but that's what some dealers expect.
I find out what a client is currently paddling and what changes they want to make. Then we meet to try out 2 or 3 boats from more to less stable.
You need to paddle a boat at least 30 minutes to know if it fits, then in different conditions to ensure the boat isn't too much to handle in waves or chop.

It affords a nice protected sand beach to launch from and with north or south wind some light downwinding can be had on the intracoastal.
